COMPETITION'S UPDATE

Dear Member

In light of the aggressive spread of Covid-19 it has been decided that ALL club competitions have been suspended until further notice.

(For any men who entered the Barney McAuley Memorial Competition their entry fee will be forwarded to the next competition.)

For the maximum protection of our members, staff and volunteers we intend to lock down the clubhouse, so for anyone who will be using their golf clubs or equipment currently stored in their lockers we would ask that they would be removed by 6pm Monday at the latest.  After this the whole clubhouse will be locked and unavailable to all members -this includes the locker rooms and toilet facilities.

Social golf is still available at this time to those who continue to observe good practice as has been outlined in previous messages.

Please remain vigilant for further updates as the situation evolves.

***IMPORTANT - MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIRMAN****

Dear member,
As you all aware we are living in unprecedented times with COVID19 and this means
life is rapidly changing day by day. We as golfers and members must adapt to the
guidelines hourly and daily. Taoiseach and local health minister have both laid out in
stark terms the reality of not adhering to the medical advice provided to
governments, citizens and sport bodies. Club secretary Kevin McCann has and will
continue to send members any updates we receive from GUI / ILGU.
While it is still fine to play our game of golf, our first priority must be social
distancing! To be clear, we aren’t seeing enough evidence of this so far. Examples
include, three / four balls on tees acting as normal and members having
conversations very close to one another. This type of social interaction must change
immediately!
Remember at all times how this virus spreads by our hands and close contact with
mouth, nose and eyes. Can you please be mindful of this when you are coming into
contact with shared surfaces inside the clubhouse and on the course. We
recommend members wash hands before and after game and where possible use
hand sanitizer.
Specifically, on the course you will notice changes coming into effect. Notably,
bunker rakes will be removed; pins must stay in the hole; avoid benches and shoe
cleaning air guns are no longer in use. Course Convenor, Vincent Agnew will place
signage where appropriate to ensure the health and safety of members. His
reminders are final.
Match Secs, Alastair and Roisin Darragh are going to be coming into contact with
shared objects such as printers, cards, screens and possibly coins. I strongly advise
you are all considerate of these interactions to protect their wellbeing too.
Please follow the below practical steps to reduce the amount of contact:
1. Pens beside competition book will be removed
2. One member of each four ball must bring their own pen with them. This
member will be responsible for signing competition book; marking cards and
inputting scores into computer. This member must wash hands thoroughly
before and after all of the above activities especially touching the screen.
All changes must be followed to comply with guidelines and every member is
responsible for their fellow members’ wellbeing. Club officers are in daily contact with
one another and will adopt policies and procedures extremely quickly as required.
We ask that members understand and appreciate the circumstances we all find
ourselves in.
Stay safe,
Chairman
Hugh McManus

BAR & RESTAURANT CLOSED

Dear Members

This has not been an easy decision to make – but as a result of the rapidly changing developments concerning the relentless spread of COVID 19  and in-line with government recommendations today we regret to inform you that we are closing the bar and restaurant with immediate effect.  This is to protect the health and well-being of our members, staff, volunteers, families and the whole community of Cushendall and surrounding areas.

The course is still open and we would encourage you to use the facilities whilst continuing to observe the recommended procedures we have previously published.  We will provide further updates as and when the situation changes.

F.A.O. ALL MEMBERS - COVID 19

Dear Members

In light of recent developments in relation to the rapidly evolving situation surrounding the COVID 19 outbreak Cushendall Golf Club intends to follow the guidance issued by the GUI and ILGU which can be found here -

This guidance suggests further updates by 29th March which, again, we will follow.

However, should this change before this date we will obviously amend our stance appropriately.

The health and safety of our members of Cushendall Golf Club, staff and our wider community is paramount and as a result we have decided to implement the following procedures with immediate effect.  We considerate ourselves fortunate that whilst the majority of other local sporting facilities are currently unavailable, recreational golf continues and we ask everyone to adhere to the recommended guidelines.

Our bar and restaurant facilities will remain open and available.  Please continue to support the bar and restaurant but follow the guidance to ensure your safety and the safety of our members, staff and wider community.

How will this impact on Cushendall Golf Club ?

1. Golf Matters

As stated in the GUI/ILGU guidance, normal recreational golf can proceed, but we  must observe precautions such as forgoing ALL contact, for example handshakes and embraces which would be normal practice and etiquette.

Inter club matches can also proceed, but there will no post-match meals.

Visitors - all visitors must provide a name and contact number so that they can be traced should a situation arise. If you are bringing visitors into the club, please make sure that they leave contact details with the staff. Please note – if a visitor has made a booking via BRS we will hold their email address should we need to contact them.

The St Patricks Day sweep will proceed as planned.

Members should not attend the facilities, course or clubhouse, if they have symptoms suggesting infection of COVID 19.

2. Social Matters

All events which gather groups in the clubhouse have been cancelled/postponed.  This includes Bridge, U3A, Choir, Judo, Pilates etc.

The Comhaltas group will not be in attendance on St Patrick's Day.  However the bar will be open and food will be available from 1.30pm to 7pm.

Bar/restaurant facilities will be available as normal subject to some changes.  The Caterer will have knowledge of these requirements.  We intend to practice social distancing, members will notice a change to the spacing of seating and tables.  For example the bar stools have now been removed to allow adequate social spacing between the customers and bar staff.

3. Cleaning
There will be an increased cleaning regime to include all surfaces by both the cleaning/bar staff.
4. Access
The front door will be closed at all times and a fob will be required for entry, if you forget your fob, please ring the door for entry.

All club staff will be given guidance on matters surrounding this outbreak, so please be compliant with any requests staff make.

There will be increased signage throughout the club and we would ask that all members take the appropriate actions, but most importantly the most effective way of combating this outbreak is to –

WASH YOUR HANDS REGULARLY !

Kind Regards

Council Members, Cushendall Golf Club
